Purpose.

Purpose.

I like to believe that we all have one thing in common. Our purpose in life is truly to become who we already are. I read many versions of this growing up. With that, i too had many visualizations and exceptions of what that might be, what it looks like and what it feels like. Spoiler alert. It really might not be what you expect. Only the blood sweat and tears. what i did not expect is that the work that we have to do in order to ‘become’ That sense of selfhood is really the work we all share and yet at the same time be consciously doing the work yourself. I am not sure since when...

It has been a decade of collaborations or even far longer before the word “collaboration’ became a marketing term. And then the alphabet ” X” is now synonym to cross overs or co creations. Lately i have been thinking what it means to even go beyond the words collaboration? Beyond that big ‘ X ‘ Is it meant to be an event or a marketing archive to be celebrated when we make it to the 10 year anniversary. i see collaborating as a way of life rather, aside from mutual benefits, it should work on elevating and motivating one to go beyond their own realm of creating....

Design that gives. That is my first impression when i stepped into Mama Shelter in LA last friday. I suppose that is what you are meant to feel when you step inside. Just like how a mother provides, warm and cozy. Mama Shelter is a parisian boutique chain of hotels, known for its quirks and cozy vibes and now it calls LA its first US home.  Grateful to my Gen Art team, i am super blessed to be able to have a chance to stay at Mama Shelter in LA since its inception two months ago. Like how this accommodation inspired me, i can’t wait to share its magic and what i have experienced here. I...

What working with brands taught me

What working with brands taught me

The notion of branding has evolved by miles since day 1 that i started representing brands three years ago. A brand’s aim is to narrate its story and bring forth its own version of a product or brand experience. Lately, i think the lines between how a consumer plays a part in influencing what is to exist is being blurred and there are many more factors as to what makes a brand grow and become viable. This is not a two step process but something that happens in the little ways that we as product creators and consumers are evolving with culture and simply the things that motivates us. As a...

Making A Move

Traveling is the new form of education and one that i am not sure if one can graduate from. I have made some moves and traveled solo for the last few years that would bring me far beyond my comfort zones.  Presently, i learnt not to judge whether its a good or bad decision,  however the biggest learning from this is to always trust the journey. There are definitely highs and lows and i hope by sharing this i can find people who have also similarly went some distance and to also perhaps motivate myself to go further. 1) Once you start you can’t stop. Education abroad is really worth it if...

A Woman’s Worth

A Woman’s Worth

I do like this song from Maxwell and i loved it more when i saw a rendition by an incredible dancer in SYTYCD telling a story about a woman’s fight against breast cancer. The original Maxwell video illustrates a woman’s experience giving birth and the father is overwhelmed with emotions as he anticipates the birth of his child. i mean these are great instances to celebrate women’s strength and tenacity but i feel there is much more space and potential for women to express themselves fully in the everyday and be confident to take up roles that matter or are seen more masculine...

I met Little Shao aka Thinh Souvannarath through my friend Dharni. Coincidentally i had been following Little Shao’s work on dance photography ( Shao shot massive campaigns for Redbull, Puma and Under Armor with Misty Copeland) and thought that he could really bring a new look to street wear so i was excited to connect. When i meant met it was more like we connected through email and eventually had calls and Skype discussions on what we can make happen together. The process was really organic for the next 6 months and through Shao i was reconnected to the dance community in the states. When...

If you were to shop at your local PUMA flagship stores now, chances are that you will be able to find a major collaboration campaign with ICNY. ICNY which is also short for ‘I See New York’ is a Brooklyn borned brand and brain child of Designer Mike Cherman. He cleverly weaves the concept of 3M into the latest technical fabrics showcasing up and coming street and sports sensibilities. We are now into the second season of representing ICNY in Asia and we can’t wait to share with everyone our up and coming initiatives in the region. All i can say is that a movement is starting now...
